Sabrina is our newest (and first) customer onboarding manager at Apploi. She will manage the onboarding process for new customers through training and on-going support. Sabrina was a former healthcare recruiter herself, so we are thrilled for this addition.

Q: Sabrina, welcome to Apploi! Can you tell us a bit about your background?

Absolutely! One of my first jobs after graduating from college was working as an assistant in the physician recruitment department at my local healthcare network. After a year, I returned to my alma mater, Hartwick College, and worked there for a little more than 3 years in alumni relations. I then returned to the recruitment field as a Talent Acquisition Specialist at The Grand Healthcare Center in April 2019. So, I’ve been working in healthcare recruitment for about 3 years.

Q: What’s your impression of Apploi so far and what’s it like to start a new Customer Onboarding Manager position remotely?

As I recently told Josh (the VP of Customer Success), I’ve never felt so welcomed at a company! Everyone was excited for me to join the team and it really showed.

It’s been really great, but to be honest, I was a bit nervous about working remotely. I was worried about the lack of social interaction, but I meet with a lot of people virtually constantly, so I really don’t miss the in-person interactions as much as I thought I would. I’m also able to make my workspace my own. Now I’m really comfortable with my setup. That’s different for me, as I was a traveling recruiter and never had my own space. I would have my laptop and sit where there was space but was often asked to move to accommodate others so having my own space is very satisfying. Plus, if I get sick of sitting at my desk, I can move to the couch!

Q: What are some of the ways Apploi has helped healthcare recruiters like yourself to improve their hiring?

Apploi was wonderful to use as a recruiting and hiring tool, especially during the pandemic. Our job postings went to many different job boards and everything was tracked in one place. There was so much exposure. When recruiting in a small rural area like I did, it was really beneficial!

I also found that a lot of people would rather text than email or talk on the phone. Having the texting feature was really great and helped us contact more of our applicants.

Once the pandemic hit, we had to limit exposure to the facilities and did everything virtually. Apploi really helped as we were able to send all our pre-hiring documents electronically.

Q: What made you want to work at Apploi?

I’ve always been a bit techy and nerdy so I knew I wanted a career in the tech industry. My current boss, Josh, was my CSM while working at The Grand. I would always give feedback on the product because I knew how it would eventually benefit not only me, but other recruiters. Recruiting isn’t an easy field, especially in healthcare. Anything I could do to help out, I did through my feedback. I eventually started testing new products for Apploi and giving more feedback, basically meeting half of the team before even starting here. I always joked around with Josh saying he could pay me for my ideas and a year or so later, here we are. I’m super excited to be a part of the team!

Q: How do you think the pandemic changed you?

It’s definitely made me realize how precious life and time with our loved ones is. Thankfully, I didn’t experience personal loss or really any day-to-day changes from the pandemic but I worked in nursing homes during the first year of the pandemic where everything changed for our residents. They weren’t able to see or touch their loved ones, and group activities and dining were a thing of the past. It was devastating. We did everything we could to make sure they were still connected to their loved ones through virtual and window visits but it wasn’t the same. A lot of the time it was really hard for them to understand what was going on. It really makes you value things a lot differently. I’m glad things are finally starting to change for them.

Q: Can you tell us about some of your short-term goals at Apploi this year? What are you most excited about?

Seeing as I am the first Customer Onboarding Manager, my main goal is to streamline the healthcare onboarding process and make it more beneficial to our customers and my colleagues. I want to find new and better ways to help our customers get set up and understand how to use the product while making the process easier and more effective for the team.

Q: Do you have any pets or hobbies we should know about?

I sure do! Everyone who knows me knows I’m obsessed with my “kids,” or as some would call them, dogs, Molly and Ohlin. My life revolves around them but during warmer weather I’m able to sneak away from them and head to the lake to go fishing (because it’s incredibly difficult to fish when you have two labs jumping off the dock into the water, scaring the fish away). Don’t worry! They get to enjoy the lake most days of the summer as well!
